A fire in the 1920s burned part of the original YMCA building on the corner of California and Rockefeller. George was able to help some children escape the flames. He died tragically in the fire, but that apparently wasn't the end for George.
His voice was sometimes muffled over the intercom at the YMCA. He moved the punching bag and dropped weights in empty space, looking agitated or awkward. Several employees observed his bumps and punches in the building.
Paranormal investigators visited the Everett YMCA in 2012 hoping to document George. They waited until late at night, setting up ectoplasm detectors and video cameras with infrared vision. Investigators search the "Ghost Town", an abandoned section of the Y that used to be a hostel.
